TDM runs fully on Android Auto: map, destinations, navigation with voice guidance, simulation and the KAKIMOTO round trips – all on the car screen, the phone stays in your pocket. This page shows what the car screen can do today.
If you use TDM mainly in the car, choose Android Auto as your preferred use at first start. In the simplified mode the phone then shows only a small start page – connection state and four tiles; map, destination, voice guidance and round-trip suggestions run on the car screen. Nothing is missing on the car screen, and nothing is taken away on the phone either: “All features” opens the complete app with one tap. You can switch it any time under Settings > System > Car-first start page.
Under “Where to?” you find search, home and work, recent destinations and recent searches, “My places” (your pinned POIs) and nearby gas stations, charging stations, restaurants and cafés – each with distance and a symbol showing whether the destination is ahead or already passed. Recent destinations can be cleared on the car screen with two taps.
Saved routes and tracks start directly from the car screen – including those from the TD Cloud. A loaded route stays visible after stopping and can be restarted or simulated. The info page shows length, destination, stops and the tour’s share code with which fellow riders load the same route. “Show” lets you look at a route or a track first without starting anything; the overview then fits the whole line.
Turn instructions, remaining time and arrival, speedometer, 3D view, map in driving direction, traffic, closures and automatic recalculation. Voice guidance comes in the app language – which can be switched directly on the car screen.
A loaded route or track can be driven at your desk – with voice guidance, maneuver card and speedometer, as if you were on the road. The simulation needs a destination: with nothing loaded it says exactly that instead of inventing a demo route. How fast it drives is set right next to it under “Speed / Simulation” – level 1 is real time, above that the time-lapse begins. When only the car screen is running, level 1 drives at a constant 50 km/h, because without the phone interface no speed limit is looked up.
Only the POIs you pinned in the app appear on the car map and in “My places” – so the map in the car stays calm even after an import brought thousands of points. A switch in the car hides and shows them.
Ride off without a plan: KAKIMOTO suggests destinations in your direction of travel – passes, sights, cafés, biker meetups – each with a ready-made curvy route. The suggestion appears on the car screen; one tap starts navigation. Routing works fully offline. The suggestions also reach you with the phone locked in your pocket: for that, location stays active in the background as long as a car screen is connected and round trips are switched on.
Presets switch the whole app configuration from the car screen. Track recording starts and stops in the car; voice, sounds, speedometer, 3D, driving direction and language are available as switches. The tiles of the car menu are in the order a driver reaches for them; tiles that would do nothing at this moment stay away.
