This tour introduces every control of the app, one slide at a time. Swipe left or right to move back and forth, or use the arrow buttons below. You can leave at any time with the X at the top right and restart the tour later from Settings.
If you use TDM almost only in the car or on the bike, you hardly need anything on the phone. That is what the simplified mode is for: the phone shows only a small start page, while map, destination and voice guidance run on the car screen. Nothing is taken away — “All features” opens the complete app with a single tap. TDM asks about it during first-time setup once you have picked car, motorcycle or motorhome; you can switch it any time under Settings > System > Car-first start page. Today this applies to Android Auto, and to Apple CarPlay as soon as Apple grants the approval. In this mode everything runs through the car screen — including the simulation, which now drives at the speed level you set there instead of at a fixed speed as before; level 1 (real time) does drive at a constant 50 km/h here, because without the phone interface no speed limit is looked up. KAKIMOTO round trips reach you in this mode as well, with the phone locked in your pocket: for that, location stays active in the background as long as a car screen is connected and round trips are switched on. On the very first start TDM asks a single question: what will you use it for – car, motorcycle, motorhome, cycling or hiking? Your answer only picks the matching routing profile (for example “curvy” for motorcycles); nothing else is hidden or locked. You can rerun this setup any time via Settings > System > Run first-time setup again.
With the simplified mode switched on, a page with four tiles greets you instead of the full app: account, settings, help and “All features”. At the very top you see whether the car screen is connected right now — “Running on Android Auto” or “Android Auto not connected”; on the iPhone it reads Apple CarPlay there. The way back is always open: “All features” opens the complete app, and the switch under Settings > System > Car-first start page turns the mode off again.
You do not have to go for a ride to see TDM work. Load a route, switch on Settings > Simulate route, and TDM drives it for you - with spoken instructions, the manoeuvre card, the ETA panel and everything else, exactly as on the road. You can set the speed as well, from a leisurely pace to fast-forward. This is the quickest way to see every function of the app in a few minutes.
The simulation also runs on the head unit: connect Android Auto, start the route and watch the manoeuvre card, the lane hints and the spoken instructions there. The switch “Simulate route” and the speed belong to the preset — a preset for a demonstration brings both along, your everyday preset leaves the switch off. On the phone that switch decides whether the simulation button appears next to the start button; on the car screen the simulation tile is always there. Both settings are in Settings > Simulate route. The speed level you set on the car screen now also applies when the app is running through the car screen alone — simplified mode, phone locked in your pocket. Until now the simulation always drove at a fixed speed in that case, no matter what you had set. One limitation: with the app running through the car screen alone, level 1 (real time) drives at a constant 50 km/h — no speed limit is looked up there; the real-time level follows the signs along the road only on the phone. You can change the level while the drive is running; it is picked up within a few seconds. And at high speed the simulation now keeps rolling during the spoken instructions instead of stopping for every single one — up to about 130 km/h it waits for the announcement just as before.

They appear once, before the first-time setup, and you can skip them at any point. To see them again later, open Settings and tap “Show the intro tutorial again” — right below the button that starts this tour.
